Resources for Diverse Students

It’s important to use the Career Center for assistance in major/career decision making, job/internship searches, résumés , cover letters, and interviewing.

  • Make time for career development and planning
Whether you are a student with a disability, international student, member of the LGBTQ community, or ethnically diverse, you need to engage in career development activities. It is important to seek out experiences in college that will help you clarify your career interests.

  • Build skills now
Understand how your personal experience impacts you across academic and employment settings. Self-advocacy skills, requesting accommodations and being comfortable with yourself are important transferable skills for employment that you will learn in college.

  • Start with your strengths
Know your unique strengths, skills and traits so you can articulate your value to employers.

  • Internship for international students
International students looking for an internship in the United States can apply to any internship open to domestic students. When asked if they require sponsorship, students should respond no. The university is their sponsor while students are on CPT or OPT.
