Internships: A Taste of the Working World |

Harry S. Truman Library and Museum Internships The Harry S. Truman Library & Museum is a federal institution that is one of ten presidential libraries across the nation. As the official repository for all of President Truman's papers and artifacts, it serves as a research institution for scholars from around the world who are studying the Truman era. It also houses a museum interpreting Truman and his times for visitors from across the nation. In carrying out its mission to be a "classroom for democracy," the Library sponsors and hosts a variety of educational public programs. For further information about the Library and its functions, students may visit the institution's web site: www.trumanlibrary.org Internships at the Library are available to students in a variety of area including, but not limited to: archives, public relations, marketing, educational programming, and visitor services. Final assignments will be based on the intern's abilities/interests and the Library's needs. Compensation Through a generous endowment set up by the family of Fred and Ethel Schwengel, selected Truman students receive five hour internship tuition scholarship. Eligibility Truman juniors and seniors who meet university guidelines for an internship may apply. Credit Up to 10 hours (This is a full semester, 40-hour-per-week internship.) Interns are selected by a university committee and the Truman Library staff. |
